PERMIT FEES
DO I NEED A PERMIT FOR SACRAMENTO AREAS
Not all areas require a permit for water heater replacements. If your home is located within Sacramento,
Yolo or Placer cities and/or counties, YES PERMITS ARE REQUIRED, per (2013 CPC Section 502.1)
these areas have had recent code changes regarding water heater installation, these changes effect the
enviroment, health, safety and protection of your family and home.
PERMIT COST TO CITY OR COUNTY
Permit service fees are usually $200 - $300 depending on your city or county where the tankless is located. Permits require homeowners or the contractor to complete the work properly using only approved materials and installation methods required by local safety codes.
WHY DO I NEED A PERMIT
An inspector is going to assure you, that the tankless water heater was installed correctly and meets all local code requirements. Only a licensed plumber is allowed to install a tankless. If a tankless is installed by a home owner, a handyman or an unlicensed contractor, there can be issues if something goes wrong. If the tankless was installed incorrectly and it causes flood damage or a fire inside the house the insurance company may deny your claim for damages and the tankless warranty may be voided.
